Mounted Lessons

Baywood has two mounted lessons a month. Each lesson provides quality instructions and an opportunity to ride towards the members next standard. The instructors have a check off sheet they incorporate into each lesson.

Activities that will be included in ALL mounted lessons at the appropriate certification level:
1. Develop and practice riding a warm-up routine, evaluate using the terms on the training pyramid.
2. Riders evaluate their position and use of natural aids.
3. Basic balanced position and base of support.
4. Bandages for appropriate level.
-practice riding accurate figures, practice rein back, turn on forehand, smooth transitions etc.
-riding w/o stirrups.
-course work to work on, rhythm and tempo, evaluate position using training pyramid.
-practice jump position w/o stirrups.
-grid work
-emergency dismount
-kid’s to ride dressage test, and parents to scribe for child.
-Instructor to teach about rules regarding dressage shows, and review the test sheets.
-course work, to evaluate rhythm and tempo using training pyramid.
-practice jump position w/o stirrups.
-practice riding in the open, pacing, cross-country course jumping
-Instructor to review rules of cross country in regards to eventing.
-Practice a jump course in balance with rhythm and tempo.
-Instructor to review rules of stadium jumping.
-Practice riding accurate figures , increase and decrease of speed and rein back.
